Attention paid along SCHOOL LANE and Community centre after a report of a suspicious vehicle/person breaking into van in area (log 0657 22/1).  Nothing further sighted.

Car parks on OAKENSHAW LANE and SHAY LANE for Walton Colliery Nature Park checked re covid gatherings.  No vehicles/no issues.

No calls for service whilst in the ward area.

PC Steel reports,

Traffic Operation undertaken as part of SAFE scheme by PC 841 and PC 6487 on SHAY LANE between 14:30hrs and 17:30hrs.

Numerous vehicles stopped and advised regarding their speed, however 5 motorists were issued with tickets due to their speed been at least 40mph (limit was 30). Fastest vehicle was 43mph. All speeders issued with tickets.

Another driver was issued with a ticket due to not having a MOT.

One of the speeders was also found to have not taxed his vehicle for some considerable time so his vehicle was seized.

We spoke to lots of locals who all seemed happy to see us. Completed the shift with a general patrol of the area. No other issues at all.

PC Steel reports,

Patrols made in Walton on Off Road Motorbike during evening of 19/01/2021. Due to some information received from members of the Parish I recovered a burnt out bike a couple of days prior from Walton Country Park at the Oakenshaw Road entrance. This moped has now been confirmed as stolen. From speaking to several locals at the time of recovery it seems there has been a slight increase in bikes through the country park, so the initial part of my patrol was around the country park to offer reassurance and hopefully deter any potential riders. I have passed on this information to my colleagues on the bike team and patrols will be increased in the area.

I also spent some time in the children’s park as I was informed of the damage to one of the pieces of equipment. I was in the park several times throughout the evening and at no point were there any groups of youths in the park. Again, I will pass on this location to my colleagues on the bike team as we can gain access quickly and easily on our motorbikes.

The remainder of the shift was spent patrolling the general area. There was a slight increase in traffic presumably due to the roadworks in Crofton, however no issues.
